The First Sector ("we", "us") is an F1 prediction league operated by Ian Thistleton. Contact: legal@thefirstsector.com
When you use The First Sector, we collect the following information:
• Email address — when you join the host updates list or create a player account.
• Display name — shown to other members of your league.
• Picks, predictions, and scores — your submitted race picks and the points you earn.
• Anonymised analytics — page views and interactions via PostHog. No personal identifiers are sent.
• Anonymised error data — crash reports via Sentry. Tokens and personal identifiers are stripped before sending.
• Host-update emails — your explicit consent, given when you tick the box and submit the form.
• Player account data — performance of the contract (you need an account to play).
• Analytics and error tracking — legitimate interest in improving and stabilising the service.
We use your data solely to run The First Sector:
• To notify you about league availability and hosting updates (host updates list only).
• To operate your league — store picks, calculate scores, and display results.
• To send league-related emails — race locks, results, and reports.
• To fix bugs and improve performance.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
We share data only with the services needed to run the app:
• Vercel — hosting and serverless functions (EU transfer covered by standard contractual clauses).
• Supabase — database (EU region).
• PostHog — anonymised analytics (EU servers: eu.i.posthog.com).
• Sentry — anonymised error tracking (DE servers: ingest.de.sentry.io).
• Resend — transactional email delivery.
Each provider processes your data only to the extent necessary to deliver the service.
• Host-update emails — kept until you unsubscribe (every email we send includes an unsubscribe link).
• Player accounts — kept until you request deletion.
• Analytics and error data — retained by PostHog and Sentry per their own policies; no personal identifiers are sent to either service.
We use PostHog for analytics, which may set a cookie to distinguish unique visitors. No advertising or tracking cookies are used. The PostHog cookie contains no personal information.
The First Sector does not handle, process, or hold any money.
Prize pot amounts are entered by league commissioners for display purposes only. Any financial arrangements are informal agreements made directly between league members, entirely outside our platform and control.
Under GDPR you have the right to:
• Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Deletion — request that we delete your data.
• Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
• Withdraw consent — unsubscribe from host-update emails at any time using the link in any email we send.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (UK: ICO at ico.org.uk).
